Hey everyone!

Came here looking for guidance. I want to feel better about myself and embrace things about me that make me insecure 😊

Hi! Thanks for first of all opening up about having insecurities publically. It takes courage and willingness to change. So that's there! I hope you're appreciating yourself for the same. Secondly, if you like reading or are a fan of poems. I usually read this poem by Rumi. It helps me accept myself and grow compassion. Because pop culture usually focuses on changing the mindset and thinking positively. While it certainly has it's place, I've realised that acceptance is also equally important. Mind you, with acceptance I don't mean resigning from effort or becoming passive. I simply imply that all those emotions we feel are a part of being human. Here you go: "This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond."
