Kid me vs. Adult me

So I remembered something I used to do all the time from when I was a kid, all the way through my teenage years.

As someone with a very active imagination, I used to daydream a lot (still daydream occasionally). However, I used to daydream scenarios, usually kind of violent, that all ended with me dying in some form. I always thought it was because I used to have terrifying nightmares when I was a child (continuous through teenagehood and the occasional one as an adult) and as such, I had dreamt of dying in pretty much every possible painful scenario; so it fed into my daydreams.

But what I think is an indicator of how far I've come is I no longer think of these sort of scenarios anymore. And I haven't since I began recovering from my mental health issues 4.5 years ago. I don't know how it just hit me now, I guess I only realised recently how unusal it was to constantly dream up ones death.

I've recently had a low mood dip, affecting my appetite and my selfconfidence (specifically my image issues), but I'm starting to get through it. I had a really rough year last year, but somehow didn't break my recovery. From this, I know that I can handle my sh**. I just got to give myself the space to express, work through understanding the emotions and why I'm feeling them (thanks, CBT), and then work on my plans A-C.

Keep your heads up, everyone. Life will throw challenges at you to see if you can overcome them. Sometimes you need help, other times you need time and perserverance. The sun will rise the next day, and it will always be beautiful.
