Newbie....sort of
I joined a while ago but didn't post much. I have a hard time talking to people on a personal level I can listen to what's bothering someone all day long but can't open up about what's bothering me. It's kind of awkward to just "jump right in" and I just don't know where to start.
I have had depression and anxiety since I was a kid. Been hospitalized a few times and don't want to that route again. Been trying to pull myself up by the bootstrap but my bootstraps seem to broken. 😔
I'm not great with technology so if I'm posting in the wrong place I apologize.
@Scarlettbttrfly Hey, no worries, you're at the right place! I too am not very good with technology. I'm very sorry to hear about your suffering, nobody should have to go through what you have. I'd just suggest talking to your friends about it. But if they aren't very open, come talk to us! We will support you no matter what. I'm praying for you, and I hope you find happiness and peace somewhere. Hugs - sparkly kitten
Hi,
I’m glad your post is here. I downloaded this app about a month ago but there’s so much to it and I’m not good at starting cold and jumping in.
I’ve been dealing with ADHD my whole life without knowing it but doctors always want to treat me for depression first. I’ve just always gotten in my own way and at this point in my life I feel like I’ve wasted so much in terms of time, energy, opportunities. I have great kids and I live for them. They could something really fulfilling for themselves someday and have pride in what they’ve done.
My daughter told me I should get therapy. I’ve never tried it because of the cost and also because I don’t know what’s appropriate to share, or if it would do me any good. I’m hoping to find out. Thanks.
I know exactly how you feel. Please know that your allowed to feel that way and it’s not bad that you don’t feel ok. If you want to talk I’m here.
it’s funny your name is butterfly.. I’ve always loved butterflies and have told my sister that theirs something special about them that I can’t quite put my finger on. The ironic thing is that a butterfly has to go through a stage of struggle to fully turn into a butterfly from his cocoon and to push the fluid through their wings so they actually will work. Keep pushing and don’t stop because your wings are forming little butterfly :)
@Scarlettbttrfly Hi. A great “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” for depression is Dr David Burns, “Feeling Better”. He has a newer one, “Feeling Great”, but I found it not as good as the original.
