Hey, I'm Katie. I used to be a geneticist in the Boston area and was an artist model for about 10 years before becoming physically disabled. After that I lost my job and all my friends (none of them could understand or care enough to learn about making accommodations for people with chronic pain and mobility issues). Because of a long history of being abused I find myself being easily able to find people initially willing to meet me but the relationship never goes anywhere because I just assume the guy/girl isn't actually interested and I give up. I'm also been told that my anxiety and depression isn't worth dealing with so I have been trying for a couple years now to get better control over my emotions and it has been helpful, except when I remember how horribly lonely I feel.
I have a boyfriend I moved in with but that was a huge mistake, he quickly got sick of me because my physical limitations prevent me from having sex that often. I'm also interested in science and art and reading and he mostly likes video games and politics and doesn't think I'm smart enough to be anything but a "trophy girlfriend"
Sorry about the long rant. I've just been crying most of the night but having to try to hide it to not upset my boyfriend. I hate feeling stuck and am trying to find a way out of this situation. Being physically dependent on people around me makes that a hard one.
Hi
I'm pretty new to this whole online therapy things, but I have lost most of my access to in-person therapy because of coronavirus so I thought I'd give this a try. I have struggled with anxiety for a long time but recently I have been struggling with the realization that I was emotionally abused for a long time and I have some lasting trauma from it. So I guess my goal is to start working through that. I'm not really sure how this website works yet but hopefully I'll figure it out soon. I hope everyone is doing as well as they can be, and I look forward to maybe getting to know some of you. :)
I am in the process of ending a 20 year relationship with my husband. We have 2 children and my main concern is their well-being. I am devastated and confused. I am still living in the same house as my husband but in my own room. He wants nothing to do with divorce but that's the only thing I see as a possible outcome. Just looking for a little space to talk things over so that my mental health and self esteem survive this overwhelming time.
@Mella312 hi Mella 312 I'm sorry you're going through this very difficult and confusing time in your life, if ever you want to chat about, please don't hesitate to message me.
Take care of yourself, stay safe and well. God bless
This site has asked me my goals and my worries. I don't really have any specific mental health goals. Nothing really fits. I'm just... tired. I've tried organized scheduling - bed at surrending times, eat at specific times, get exercise and socialization, blah blah blah... I've tried just allowing myself to get sleep. As much of it as I feel I need. I'm still. just. tired. Not sleepy, per se.. I just can't really get fired up anymore, I guess. Everything feels muted. Most of the time. I get occasional peaks and highs where everything feels amazing. But mostly it just feels like when everything on the radio is either ads or something you're burned out on.
So what do I do with that?

Hi everyone! I've always been comfortable being there for my family and friends when they need someone to talk to, so I thought this would be a great service to join. I'm glad I found 7 Cups!
Hi, I'm new to 7 Cups and will like to help others as a listener. I'm not clear what I need to do to become a listener and build up my training and certificates. Can someone please help me with my next steps? Thank you
Hi my name is Rita. I've had ptsd and social anxiety almost my whole life and have been feeling very isolated here at home due to the virus. I don't have a lot of support in my life so I've just been trying to keep myself busy and hoping I won't fall into a depression.
Hi!
I came across 7cups when I organized a pinterest folder and there was a post I had pinned a long time ago with 5 websites everybody should know. 7cups was the first on that list and since I struggle for a few months now (have also been in counseling at the end of last year), I thought why not try this out and have it as a resource when my friends (who are awesome, btw (: ) are not available or I want to talk to someone else. I would consider myself a good listener and my counselor told me I'm a good therapist to myself, but I still get intrusive thoughts and the like and it scares me.
Looking forward to exploring this site and help and receive help <3
Hi I'm Michelle. I was looking for a volunteer opportunity that fits my schedule. 7 Cups seems like a great fit. I'm excited to be here and look forward chatting with other listeners.
