I tend to occupy myself with things to keep from over thinking. It works but the times where I can’t find anything to do I feel like I’m dying inside. I am always here to talk. I recommend finding new things to occupy your time because you might realize that you can make that opportunity successful while also distracting your thoughts

@quietTiger4517 hi there

Overthinking is a really crippling thing. It tends to swallow you whole and not let you go. It feels like you can never escape. Specially thoughts about being a failure, or never bein able to achieve anything. Those are the worst u-u

Like sydney has suggested, occupying yourself with things you truly enjoy tend to help take your focus off your thought spiral. However, you cannot hope to achieve this until you properly take control of your thoughts.

How you ask?

Well. The first step to stopping your thought spiral from tightening and dragging you down with it is to acknowledge how you are feeling in that moment. I know it sounds silly, but do it, say it out loud. Say what thoughts are flitting into your mind. By saying them out loud not only are you are acknowledging that they exist, but that they also exist outside your mind. For example, "I acknowledge that I'm feeling stressed out because I think that I will never be successful in my life." Put it out there. Imagine that you're holding it in your hands, this thought. Counter it with a question. "Why do I think I will never be successful?" When an answer flits into your mind, say it out loud. Then ask yourself, "Is this a valid reason?"

Writing these thoughts down also helps a lot. Writing down reassurances next to it so that the next time you start down the same route, you can look back to it and feel better. Another way that you can reassure yourself is to think about your career opportunities. What is it that you enjoy? What can you do a major in? How can you make yourself so that you succeed? Do it. Work for it. Make a solid plan and climb it up.
