[Chat Details - Member/GuestAsking for Offsite PhoneContact edited by Forum Moderator]
has anyone else experienced similar to this ?
I dont know what to do?
@Laura
I haven't had contact with this member but I have had similar messages in the past some even asking for money or my Skype because they could not talk otherwise. No matter whether or not it might be genuine please just explain site policy on offsite contact and do not give any personal details but offer to chat on this site only if you feel comfortable with that or explain that they can chat to another listener you could also paste in some details of hotlines they could contact If they felt more willing to speak over the phone.
While I don't know where they are based a service like this might help :https://www.supportline.org.uk/problems/depression.php
Thank you for all you do as a listener
If you need chat support, we usually keep that to 1-1s with mentors due to the need to maintain confidentiality. You can connect to one via our mentors pageor by visiting the listener community room and seeing which moderators are around! They'd love to help.
Due to the amount of chat details in your post is it okay if I tag some forum mentors? @Iara @Flourish @Roadie .They can fix any parts that might be against the rules of the forum! Keep up the good work
@Chrissy thanks for the tag.
@Alittlemanwithabigheart- I believe that happens sometimes. Sometimes such messages get posted to several listeners at a time, in that case it is spamming. Other times the person genuinely wants you to call them because of their issue however it is against the site rules so it is not appropriate you do so. You can suggest alternatives to the usual hotlines, according to what they need help with.
If you need further assistance I suggest you PM me (I am one of the mentors) or some other mentors to discuss it.
Ps. I edited some areas in your post,due to confidentiality rules of the site.
hey thanks for that :)
i didn't even think.... i just did'nt want anyone to fall into a trap ....
keep up the good work
@Alittlemanwithabigheart- You are welcome :) I'm glad to help.
