Seizures Before Periods

Has anyone heard of women having seizures before starting their period? My daughter in law is perimenopausal and has developed seizures right before her cycle. Doctors are no help.

@Manyhands

That's awful, that the doctors are of no help.

It might help her to keep a journal of what triggers before her period, to better enable her to deal with the seizures.

No doubt they are frightening.

A pharmacist might be able to answer some questions as to treatments for the perimenopause , or a health food shop 💙

@Manyhands I have heard of hormones affecting epilepsy, but moreso with puberty. That seems typical for women's health though - puberty being well discussed and perimenopause not.

Has any doctor st least confirmed between a seizure vs. a pseudo-seizure? I would think hormones could also play a role with Functional Neurological Disorder.

I hope she finds good medical support soon!

Sorry not heard of that, I thought my symptoms were off. I hope you get some answers soon, it's stressful not knowing.

Perhaps a walk in women's clinic might yield better results?
