PCOS diagnosis

Hello all, I’m not sure if anyone can help in anyway but maybe I’m in need of a good rant.

I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 weeks ago and, well it’s destroying my life. I’m unable to have normal periods, unable to loose weight, possibly unable to get pregnant, basically unable to be a women.

i used to be skinny after loosing 50 lbs and gained it all back + 25lbs more. And it sucks. I hate the way I look, the way I talk, the way I look in the mirror and can’t recognize who I am anymore. I hate the reflection but it’s my reality.

I’ve tried so many workouts, diets and that only caused me to gain wait because of the pcos.. my gyno told me it’s impossible. Others say it isn’t but I’ve already tried everything and it seems like it is. I’m lost and it’s consuming all my happiness.

My doctor tried prescribing me a glp-1 but insurance will not cover it because pcos is not a “medical necessity” even having metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, pre diabetic . Gosh I hate insurance.

Anyway, I’m running out of options and getting sucked into a dark hole that I can’t get out of. I catch myself staring thinking I’ll never be good enough or confident again. And even while talking to my therapist about it and she’s trying to make me feel better I just think I’m better off, not here anymore.

It’s not just about “looks” it’s affecting my mental health. I grieve the girl I used to be, skinny. Beautiful, confident. I was able to dress the way I wanted to. And I still feel like her except, I’ll never look like her again.

@powerfulPlum3916

Hey there. Thank you for sharing your story with us. It's very brave of you to open up. I was diagnosed with PCOS last year. I know it's tough and coming out of it seems to be impossible but it isn't. In my case, I wasn't trying to conceive nor did I experience irregular periods. I have hirsutism, lost a lot of weight, experience brain fog on a regular. I was also anemic, however I was able to get my haemoglobin back to the normal range with supplements and a healthy diet in place.

Seeing a gynaecologist is important. I'm not sure of the medications your mentioned. But as of now, I'm not on any except a vitamin D supplement. I stopped the PCOS medicines after consulting my doctor because it did more harm than good. I'm aiming to reverse it naturally or see my gynecologist once I'm ready to.

Some resources I've been suggested that I would like to recommend to you,

@thepcosmentor and @milamendhealth on gram app.

Please note, it's important to consult an expert and I'm not advising against it. Take care and feel good. It's your body, you have to learn to worship and embrace it before anyone else.
