Reasons of body aches
So, some of you may remember that I've got a Mirena. I'm still getting spotting after 6 months from the insertion. I have also been sick with the cold the past two weeks, with wheezing coughs. So, yesterday, when my body began to ache during my shift at work, makes me think, if it's the period or from the cold. My left chest/collarbone was sore. Could be from the coughs, or something else? This morning, I woke up with my body aching too. So, a side effect from my period that's causing the spotting or my body aching from the coughs. I'm most afraid of getting pneumonia. I had it about just over 10 years ago. And was told, that I'm at a higher risk of getting it a second time after the first diagnosis. The same with DVT. I had a non-provocative (term used by the Specialist) incident in 2019, was told although it was higher risk because I had been on birth control pills before then, that I'm still at a higher risk of reoccurrence.
I had called in sick for work today, as I tried to get my Manager to approve that I start my shift later instead. Without the approval, I just called in sick for the day. I have an appointment with my GP this afternoon. I had a phone call appointment with her locum 2 weeks ago, when I was first sick with the cold. Now, I've made an in-clinic appoint to see my own GP. Gotta ask her a few questions, and tell her that the inhaler the locum prescribed doesn't seem to be working. I gotta ask her about my body aches, why my left chest/collarbone is sore, if I should try other prescriptions, if there is something I should take during the day for my wheezing coughs (the inhaler is only used twice a day, morning and bedtime).. Oh, I also have to tell her about the nosebleed I had last week. I should also inform my GP about the recent dental filling I had done. My appointment was around 1:30pm, they gave me the anesthesia by 2pm.. I had fillings done on 3 teeth surfaces in my bottom left. The numbness didn't past well into the night. I wasn't able to have a proper dinner, because I couldn't feel my tongue/lips/left mouth. It was around 10pm when it's still hasn't returned to normal, so I just went to bed, to fight the hunger. So, the dentist either gave me too much of the anesthesia medication, or I reacted to it and resulted in a longer recovery from the numbing. I had some fillings done by the same dentist back in October 2021, and I recovered at the normal rate then. So, maybe this time, it's an overdose?
My mum mentioned I should ask my dentist at my next visit, the type of medication used and the volume given. In case in the future, I need surgery, it's in my records. My mum knows someone from her church, first time going in for surgery and didn't know will react to the anesthetic medication, took a long time for the patient to wake up from surgery, and was afraid he turned into a vegetative state!
Oh, I went off topic. So back to my body aches, I hope it's not a minor case of pneumonia. I'll get my doctor to have a listen to my lungs. I also have phlegm that hasn't been able to come out from my body. Even tried taking medication that says will loosen mucus and phlegm, but it hasn't worked for me. I can still taste it when I cough from time to time.
Anyways, I should start getting ready. Need to take a shower first. Then, since I'm parking at the mall, and walking over to the clinic, after parking, I need to actually take a walk inside the mall first. I'll check back in afterwards with the results of my appointment.
So, GP had a listen to my lungs, says everything is clear. When asking about the body aches, she says because my cold is a virus, so symptoms can show from head to toe. Bones being sore, my body aching, is all from the virus. She says because I have a history of asthma, all over-the-counter medications will not work on me. So, I got the regular inhaler back, as that one can be used during the day. She says hopefully with the use of both inhalers, it will help with the inflammation of the lungs. When I told her the previous misdiagnosis of pneumonia 10 years ago, she gave me a requisition for an x-ray. She says, in case I get the same kind of pain as that time, I can go in for the x-ray. And if it does turn out to be pneumonia then, they will notify her right away. So, now, I'll just have to deal the aching of my body. She also explained, the lower back soreness, she can't tell if it's because of my spotting from the period, or the virus of the cold. She says to go back to her if it's still sore after my cold is gone.
I was walking around in the mall this afternoon, as I waited for my prescriptions to be ready for pick up. Let's just say, it's one of the slowest walking paces ever. My back, and shoulder blades were all sore. Good thing I had a full-sized umbrella with me.. worked like a cane.
I went for a nap when I got home, and woke up to have dinner that was left behind for me. I'm going to keep up with my slow pace at work tomorrow. It's really tiring to work though, body aches are no fun. At least tomorrow should be an easy day for work, slow down with only 4 operating rooms running. Hopefully after the Christmas holidays, next week will be only a 3-day work week, that I will feel better. I should still go to bed earlier tonight, my body is still aching. *sigh*
@Jaeteuk I'm really sorry to hear that you're going through such a tough time with your health. It sounds like you're dealing with a lot, from the lingering effects of your cold to concerns about pneumonia and your recent dental experience. It's great that you're proactive about seeking medical advice and keeping track of your symptoms. Your GP seems to be taking steps to ensure your well-being, and it's positive that your lungs are clear. I hope the prescribed inhalers help alleviate your symptoms, and I wish you a speedy recovery. Take care, and feel free to update me after your next appointment 💚
With both inhalers, my coughs are much better now. I'm no longer needing the twice a day one, and just using the regular inhaler in the day, or as needed. My body aches are slowly going away too.
I'm going to need to make appointments for more dental fillings for early January.. because I was given work for 2.5 months, starting 3rd week of January. With the prolonged effects of the anesthesia, I think I'll make my appointments for the morning.. that way, I should still be able to have dinner. As, I usually don't eat lunch anyways.
@Jaeteuk That's great to hear that your coughs have improved with both inhalers, and it's a positive sign that you're gradually feeling better overall. Planning your dental appointments in the morning sounds like a smart move, considering the effects of anaesthesia. Congratulations on the upcoming work starting in January! Wishing you continued improvement in your health and success in your endeavours. If there's anything I can do to support, feel free to let me know. Take care!
Thank you. I think it might be too early to stop the other inhaler.. ended up coughing more at work today.. and I felt short of breath a few times after the coughs. So, I should probably continue with the inhaler that is for morning and bedtime for the rest of this week. Then, ease off from it afterwards.
I'm guessing maybe because I need to wear masks at work, for some reason, it makes me cough more. And with staff wearing scented cologne and hand creams.. that also irritates my throat. Now the coughs might not be because of the cold.. could be just allergies. But it still helps to use the inhalers, especially when I feel it disrupts my breathing rhythms.
I just need to keep an eye on my lower back aches. As my GP says if it still hurts after I've recovered from my cold, to go see her. Depending on what she says, I might have to go see my Gynecologist too. I also need to stay aware of my breathing.. see if my lungs hurt.. really don't want another case of pneumonia. Luckily from the first time, I remember the pain it caused and where it hurts. So, I just need to be aware of that type of pain, especially if it's painful with every breath in. I have the requisition with me all the time now, especially at work too. In case I need it, I could take it to get an x-ray done immediately.
Thanks for being around and replying to my post. The only thing I'm not looking forward to the work starting January is the parking. Once the holidays are over, parking will become an issue again, as I will be doing all the evening shifts, starting at 12pm. And with the forecast indicating we might be some snow in January, that's at least 12 stalls less, as snow will be plowed in them.
