Self reflection vs Society Image
Tw: This thread will contain discussion on self reflection, society image and complex thoughts as well as discussion questions!
Hello everyone, InsightfulPhoenix aka Phoe for short🥰. Now that the trigger warning message has been done I would like to speak on something that just came to mind. This discussion today is called Self Reflection vs Society Image, before we get into it deeply lets talk about what a Self Reflection is when you take mediation or serious thoughts, actions and motives of yourself. Society Image is when public identity or public face is present.
In today's world women face a lot of adversity from the outside world creating an unnecessary societal image of us. From being told how to dress, look, act, speak or even look. The world has made it a very uncomfortable place for us as women to be comfortable within our own skin. An it becomes worse throughout time, because there is a certain specified look for each age and each moment in your life. Which is not okay, especially those of us women that are mothers. Mother's deserve to be able to have low moments without fear of her motherhood being questioned. Which then brings us into the next thing.
Self Reflection for women is also just as hard, because the weight of being a woman is on our shoulders from a young. From being told that we can not do certain things, value the use of self-expression. It created a lot of frustration and self-oppression within us women. Women have the hardest time with self-reflection, because of all the societal imagery that has been displayed. Women have feelings, voices and thoughts just as much as men do. We should not have to wait for permission to think, breath or even live. Here are the questions I would like to ask:
What makes self-reflection hard for you? An why?
When was the last time society imagery made something difficult for you? An why?
@InsightfulPhoenix Hi Phoe, thank you for initiating this discussion on Self Reflection vs Society Image. It's important to address the challenges women face in navigating societal expectations. Your words resonate deeply, and I appreciate your openness in shedding light on these issues.
However, it's crucial to acknowledge that progress has been made over time. Although discriminations persist, it's significant to recognize that the situation for women used to be far more challenging in the past. The perception that things are worse now may arise from our increased awareness and vocalization about longstanding issues.
Thank you for commenting and placing your viewpoint, and I supposed I should have placed down the changes over time but I got too keyboard happy lol. I appreciate your wordsð¥°
