The Body’s Quiet Lessons

I spend a lot of time thinking about how we understand ourselves, but sometimes the most important lessons come from our bodies. I’ve noticed how small habits, moods, and rhythms tell me more about my health and wellbeing than any textbook ever could.

I’m curious, what’s something your body has taught you recently that surprised you?

@LanaAfterDark Do you mind sharing if you're AFAB? We have had wonderful supportive men who have contributed to this community and I also support people of all genders being able to seek support or ask questions.

I have experienced harassment based on my gender, so when this is a space to support women I do feel a little guarded when someone who is fairly new comes in changes their gender on their profile within the first week and asks questions about my relationship with my body.

Little things exhaust me, are triggers for my illnesses, etc.

There are times though where there's more capability than I thought I had in me.

Recently, it was a few days with an increased ROM. It only lasted a few days, but it's been decades since it had been like that.

With the right combination of factors, sometimes I see where I'm actually at, with some of the issues temporarily stripped down.

@LanaAfterDark

I've noticed this too! For myself, I find that my body can tell me when something is off - a relationship, decision, or place. Usually, my stomach will hurt, and that'll tell me that my subconscious or gut knows something's wrong, and I can get out of there!
