Check-In Questions:

1. How are you feeling today?

Feeling a lot of pain right now, been taking pain relievers to pacify the pain...and just general fatigue.

2. How did last week go for you? Any highlights or challenges you'd like to share?

Challenges: Last week has been a bit hectic. Have been trying to receive rental assistance and also contact my doctor to get a CT scan. Had to deal with an eviction...

Highlights: I stopped drinking alcohol and smoking/consuming MJ since December 2023 and recently quit caffeine. I have been trying to improve my health and go to the hospital now to see what's wrong with me. As far as the eviction goes, I was able to put a payment plan.

3. What are your plans for this new week ahead?

Going to try to go back to work so I can afford rent, though not sure it's much of a good idea...been in a lot of pain lately, and have been waiting on the doctor to give me some sort of letter to apply for disabilities or further investigate the issue. The pain was caused by a couple of traumatic events and worsened over time. The first event was when I got hit by a car while crossing the crosswalk close to a decade ago, which weakened my entire left side of the body. Then the next major event that happened a few years ago was when [TRIGGER WARNING: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE] my abusive ex-fiancé strangled me to the point to where I almost became unalive and threw me several times against the floor. He cut oxygen off to my brain, that I was told that damage might not show up now, but could show up later in life... [END OF TW]

So, wanted to get a CT scan to see what could be wrong...been getting sharp pain in my ribs and chest. I have bad back pain since the car accident.

4. February is right around the corner! What are your goals for the upcoming month, starting this Thursday?

I keep saying this a lot, but hoping to finish the online real estate classes and (hopefully) be able to work remotely and on my own schedule since my health has been declining...

Icebreaker of the Week:

Who is your favourite female musician, and what song always brightens your day? 🎵

Hmm...One of my favourite English musicians would be Lily Allen. She does sing songs that talk about women's issues, such as "Hard Out Here" (where woman are sexualized), "The Fear" (someone who wants to be famous, but loses herself in the process), and "22" (talks about how once women turn 30, society deems that her life is over). Just a lot of social commentary.

As for music in my native language...If I'm in a saucy mood, I like listening to "A Quien Le Importa" covered by Thalia (originally sung by Alaska y Dinarama). The song translates to "Who cares?" and basically describes how she doesn't care what other people think about her. I didn't know this, but I heard it is in reference to those who are LGBT. I happen to be bisexual, so that makes it even cooler in my opinion. 🩷💜💙

Another song I like is "No Controles" by Flan, which translate to, as you can already guess "Don't Control". She sings about not wanting someone to control the way she dresses ("No controles mis vestidos") and don't control how she feels "No controles mis sentidos").

I really enjoy (old school) Rock in Spanish and 80s-90s music in Spanish is great too. I makes me feel better when I'm feeling down. It feels like the missing part of me is back...I remember being young and rebellious, but the older I become, I either isolate myself or attempt to "conform" to society, but it's difficult to, when I don't agree with it...

@ImpudentIncognito I'm truly sorry to hear that you're going through such a challenging time, and I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and experiences with us.

Firstly, it's commendable that you've made positive changes in your life, like quitting alcohol, smoking, and caffeine. Taking steps to improve your health is a significant achievement. Dealing with eviction and health issues can be incredibly overwhelming. Putting a payment plan in place for the eviction is a positive step, and I hope it eases some of the stress you're facing.

I'm really sorry to hear about the traumatic events you've been through, and the physical pain you're experiencing. I hope the CT scan provides the necessary insights into your health. As for your goals for February, completing your online real estate classes is a fantastic objective. I'm rooting for your success in working remotely and on your own schedule!

Thank you for sharing your favourite music and the stories behind them. Music can be a powerful source of comfort and connection. If you ever feel like sharing more or need someone to talk to, I'm here. Take care 💖
