About Elders Program

The Elders Program in Selawik, AK, is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our senior community by providing essential support services and assistance with basic needs. Our program offers a wide range of services, including caregiver training, case management, and the provision of durable medical equipment to ensure our elders can thrive. We also facilitate consumer-directed personal care assistant (PCA) services and provide respite options to give caregivers a much-needed break. Through initiatives like fall and injury prevention education, Medicare and Medicaid assistance, and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), we empower seniors to maintain their health and independence. Our community-building activities, such as monthly Elder Food Boxes, teas, and potlucks, promote social engagement, while resource assistance and elder transportation services in the Anchorage area help bridge any gaps in access. Additionally, we offer elder advocacy, support services, gatekeeper training, and Older Adult Mental Health First Aid Training, all aimed at fostering a supportive environment for our cherished seniors.
