The Seniors Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) in Oneonta, Alabama, is dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of low-income seniors aged 60 and over by providing vital food assistance. Managed by the Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries, this program offers food vouchers that can be redeemed for fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, honey, and herbs at approved farmers markets and roadside stands. By connecting seniors with local farmers, SFMNP not only fosters healthy eating habits but also supports the local agricultural community. Eligible participants will receive their vouchers by mail, which must be used by November 15 of the calendar year they are issued.
