About Newport Institute Northern California
Newport Institute's Northern California locations provide specialized mental health treatment for young adults between 18 and 35 years old. Founded by Jamison Monroe to address the rising mental health challenges facing today's young adult population, the institute offers gender-specific residential programs with two women's facilities in San Rafael and a men's residence in Sunol. Treatment at Newport Institute combines comprehensive clinical care with experiential therapies in a holistic approach that addresses underlying causes rather than just symptoms. Residents participate in 30 hours of clinical and experiential programming weekly, including individual and group therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, nutrition education, body image work, and attachment-based family therapy. The program incorporates diverse experiential practices such as yoga, equine-assisted therapy, cooking classes, and martial arts to support healing. Beyond clinical treatment, Newport Institute places strong emphasis on preparing residents for their futures through academic support, life skills development, and vocational assistance. College-bound residents receive help staying on track with their education, while those entering the workforce benefit from executive functioning skill development and motivational coaching. With a commitment to healing the mind, body, and spirit, Newport Institute's compassionate staff create personalized treatment plans that integrate clinical, experiential, vocational, and educational components for lasting recovery and personal growth.
