About Health & Life Skills

At the Boys & Girls Club of the Foothills in West Covina, CA, we are dedicated to fostering the growth and development of local youth by providing a safe, supportive environment during out-of-school hours. Our comprehensive programs are designed to enhance essential life skills and instill confidence, connection, and pride among young people. From our SMART Moves initiative, which tackles issues like substance use and risky behaviors, to SMART Girls, which empowers young women aged 8 to 17 through health and self-esteem education, we address the unique challenges faced by youth today. For younger children aged 6 to 8, our SMART Kids program focuses on promoting safe, healthy choices, while our Passport to Manhood series helps boys aged 11 to 14 develop character and leadership skills. We also combat obesity through Positive Sprouts, which encourages healthy eating via community gardening initiatives, and our Healthy Habits program infuses nutritious living and physical activity into every club experience. With a commitment to accessibility, we offer financial assistance to ensure no family is excluded from participation due to cost. Together, we’re shaping the leaders of tomorrow, one young person at a time.
