Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program's Whittier location provides specialized residential treatment for adolescents and teens ages 11-17 experiencing primary mental health conditions. Since 1997, this gender-inclusive program has created a nurturing environment where young people struggling with reactive attachment disorder, trauma, anxiety, self-harm, bipolar disorder, and depression receive personally tailored care. Each day, teens engage in 5-6 hours of structured therapeutic activities, including individual, group, and family therapy sessions. The program seamlessly integrates academic support through educational liaisons and tutors who help residents maintain their schoolwork while in treatment. Beyond traditional therapy, residents participate in experiential activities such as gardening, art, and yoga to develop emotional regulation skills. Family involvement forms a cornerstone of the treatment approach, with weekly therapy sessions and homework assignments designed to support successful reintegration. Board-certified psychiatrists provide medication management services as needed. Following residential treatment, patients benefit from comprehensive aftercare support, including free weekly support groups, an extensive referral network, and continued care through outpatient programs, all designed to maintain stability and nurture long-term wellness.
