About Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
At the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program located in Naval Anacost Annex, DC, we are dedicated to fostering healthy lifestyles for low-income pregnant and postpartum women, along with their infants and children up to five years of age. Our mission is to ensure access to nutritious food assistance and vital resources that enhance well-being. Through personalized nutrition counseling and education, we empower families with the knowledge they need for optimal health. Our program offers breastfeeding support, healthy foods rich in essential nutrients like calcium, protein, and vitamins, as well as immunization assessments. Additionally, we facilitate referrals to necessary health and social services. For children over one year old, WIC expands its support by providing fresh fruits and vegetables from May to November via the Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program, ensuring that every family has what they need to thrive.
