About Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)

The Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Supplemental Food Program in Washington, DC, is dedicated to fostering healthy eating habits among low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, as well as infants and children up to five years old. Through this vital program, we offer personalized nutrition counseling and education to empower families with knowledge about nutritious choices. Our resources include comprehensive breastfeeding support and access to nutrient-rich foods packed with calcium, protein, iron, and essential vitamins. In addition, we conduct immunization assessments and connect families with vital health and social services. From May to November, WIC proudly provides fresh fruits and vegetables through the Farmers' Market Nutrition Program, ensuring that women and children have access to wholesome food options. Our mission is to improve the well-being of mothers and young children, one healthy meal at a time.
