The Food Closet at Claymont Community Center is dedicated to providing essential food assistance to families and individuals facing food insecurity in Claymont, DE. We offer three to four days' worth of nutritious, fresh, and healthy foods, including proteins, fruits and vegetables, grains, and dairy, to support the dietary needs of our community members experiencing hunger. Depending on availability, we also provide personal hygiene and household items to help our guests. Our Food Closet operates by appointment on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on the third Thursday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., so we encourage scheduling appointments in advance as they fill quickly. For those in urgent need of emergency food outside of these hours, we offer emergency bags during regular center hours on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., ensuring individuals have the resources they need to bridge the gap until further support is available.
