Early Head Start (EHS) in Camp H M Smith, HI, is a federally funded initiative dedicated to empowering low-income families with infants and toddlers under three, as well as supporting pregnant women. Our program focuses on delivering essential services through weekly home visits, where trained home visitors engage with families to enhance child development while equipping parents with the tools they need for effective caregiving. We also offer group socialization activities twice a month, fostering connections among parents and children through enriching parent-child interactions. While we currently operate a home-based program across Hawaii Island, we are excitedly planning for future classroom locations in Hawaiian Beaches and Hilo. EHS provides a range of services, including early learning opportunities, health and developmental screenings, family support, and specialized curricula for expectant mothers, ensuring every child gets a strong start in life.
