About Senior Food Box Program
The Senior Food Box Program, also known as the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), serves the critical need for food assistance for low-income kūpuna in Fort Shafter, HI. Each month, eligible seniors receive a carefully curated box of USDA-approved food that is designed to provide essential nutrients, helping to alleviate senior hunger and promote overall health. By reducing the risk of costly hospitalizations and nursing home placements, this program not only nourishes the body but also supports the well-being of our elderly community. To access this vital service, applicants can download and complete an application available online, which will be processed by Hawaii Foodbank. While demand is high and distribution sites currently operate with wait lists, we strive to ensure that seniors in need have access to emergency food resources as soon as possible. Extra boxes may also be distributed after each CSFP event to those on the wait list, reinforcing our commitment to support kūpuna in maintaining their health and independence.
