About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

Nestled in the heart of Kapaau, HI, the Farm & Food Systems Fellowship is dedicated to fostering a sustainable and equitable food system through holistic education and community engagement. Our program empowers ambitious individuals to become knowledgeable advocates for justice in our food systems, offering a hands-on experience that combines organic agricultural principles with essential skills in food and ecological literacy. Over six transformative months, selected Fellows immerse themselves in intensive training at Allegheny Farm, gaining practical experience in diversified crop production, community gardening, and innovative health education initiatives. Following their training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, where they collaborate with local non-profits to enhance access to healthy foods, support community food initiatives, and mentor future leaders. Our commitment to accessibility means that there are no tuition fees for participants, ensuring that all passionate individuals have the opportunity to contribute to a just food system. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May through October.
