About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Kaunakakai, HI, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. Our program offers a six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm, focusing on organic food system education, where participants learn to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement health education initiatives, and maintain community gardens. Fellows actively engage in promoting food and ecological literacy within schools, supporting farmers markets, and developing channels for increased access to healthy foods. Additionally, our Fellowship encourages collaboration with regional non-profit organizations during a Community Action Year to apply practical skills and knowledge gained. We believe in the importance of accessibility; therefore, there is no tuition charge for the program. Applications are open until March each year, with the experience running from May to October.
