About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Kekaha, HI is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to become effective advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Through a comprehensive program that emphasizes organic food system education, selected fellows engage in hands-on learning at our farm, developing the skills needed to promote social, environmental, and economic justice in agriculture. Our fellows lead initiatives such as growing and distributing diverse crops, conducting educational sessions on innovative healthcare, maintaining community gardens, and enhancing food and ecological literacy in local schools. Additionally, they play a vital role in supporting farmers markets and establishing distribution channels to increase access to healthy foods. By collaborating with regional nonprofit organizations during their Community Action Year, fellows apply their training to real-world challenges, building a network of change-makers committed to fostering resilience and sustainability in the food system. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the experiential fellowship starting in May.
