About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Kihei, HI, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates and educators who are passionate about creating a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. This immersive program provides comprehensive organic food system education, empowering Fellows to engage in diverse activities such as cultivating and distributing a variety of crops, maintaining community and school gardens, and developing pathways for increased access to healthy foods. Additionally, they facilitate educational initiatives that promote food and ecological literacy within schools and support local farmers markets. Fellows benefit from a six-month hands-on residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus, followed by a Community Action Year, where they collaborate with regional non-profits to apply their training in real-world scenarios. We believe in accessibility, and thus, do not charge tuition for the Fellowship. Applications are open until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
