About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship

The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship based in Kurtistown, HI, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic justice. This unique fellowship supports participants in gaining hands-on experience in organic food systems, enabling them to work alongside community partners to grow and distribute diverse crops, implement innovative educational programs, and maintain community gardens. By fostering food literacy and supporting farmers markets and direct-to-consumer initiatives, we ensure greater access to nutritious food. Our immersive, six-month program equips selected Fellows with the knowledge and skills needed to create positive change within their communities. Following this, they engage in a Community Action Year, partnering with regional non-profits to apply their learnings and cultivate a healthier food ecosystem. Applications for this transformative experience are accepted until March each year, with the fellowships running from May to October.
