About Early Head Start (EHS)
Early Head Start (EHS) in Laupahoehoe, HI, is dedicated to fostering the development of low-income families with infants and toddlers under three years old, as well as supporting pregnant women. Our federally funded program emphasizes early childhood education and comprehensive services delivered through personalized weekly home visits, where trained home visitors focus on promoting child development and empowering parents. In addition to individualized support, EHS offers bi-monthly group socialization activities designed to strengthen the bonds between parents and children while building a supportive community. Our holistic approach includes health and development screenings, a prenatal curriculum for expecting mothers, and tools like the Partners for a Healthy Baby curriculum. Currently, our home-based services reach families across East Hawaii, with plans to expand into classroom settings in Hawaiian Beaches and Hilo, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive.
