About Senior Food Box Program

The Senior Food Box Program, also known as the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), is dedicated to supporting low-income kūpuna in Lawai, HI, by providing them with a monthly supply of nutritious USDA food. This crucial food assistance initiative aims to alleviate senior hunger and combat related health issues, thereby reducing the risk of expensive hospitalizations and the need for nursing home care. Each carefully curated Senior Food Box is designed to enhance nutrition and well-being among participants. To join the program, individuals are encouraged to download the application available online and submit it to the Hawaii Foodbank. Due to the high demand for these essential food boxes, there are currently wait lists at all CSFP distribution sites, and applicants will be added in the order their applications are received. While on the wait list, access to a monthly box is not guaranteed, but some extra boxes may be available for clients after each distribution.
