About Senior Food Box Program
The Senior Food Box Program, also known as the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), serves the Lihue, HI community by providing essential food assistance to low-income kūpuna. Each month, eligible seniors receive a carefully curated box filled with quality USDA food, aimed at addressing the critical issue of senior hunger and improving health outcomes. By providing these nutritious food boxes, we strive to help our kūpuna maintain their well-being, potentially preventing costly hospitalizations and the need for nursing home care. To benefit from this program, interested seniors can complete an application available online and submit it to the Hawaii Foodbank. As we work to meet high demand, please be aware that there are wait lists at all distribution sites, and applicants will be added in the order received. While on the wait list, recipients may not receive a box every month, but any extra boxes at the end of distribution will be shared with those on the list, ensuring we do our best to support our local seniors.
