About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Makaweli, HI is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Through an accessible, tuition-free program, we provide hands-on training and education in organic farming and food system sustainability. Our Fellows engage in diverse projects, working alongside community partners to cultivate thriving market-style farms, run health-focused educational initiatives, and manage school and community gardens. They play a crucial role in enhancing food literacy, supporting farmers markets, and expanding access to healthy foods within local communities. This immersive six-month fellowship experience culminates in a Community Action Year, allowing graduates to implement their skills with regional non-profits. Applications are accepted until March, with the program running from May to October.
