The Senior Food Box Program, also known as the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), is dedicated to providing low-income kūpuna in Makaweli, HI, with a vital monthly supply of quality USDA food. By addressing senior hunger, this program aims to enhance the health and well-being of our older adults, helping them avoid unnecessary hospital visits and extended care placements. Each carefully packed Senior Food Box is designed to supplement essential nutrients for better health. To participate, individuals can download and complete an application available online and submit it to the Hawaii Foodbank. Due to a high demand, there are currently wait lists for all distribution sites; applicants will be placed on the wait list in the order their applications are received. While on the wait list, monthly box availability cannot be guaranteed, but additional boxes may be distributed to those on the list at the end of each distribution.
