About Children with Special Health Needs Program (CSHNP)
The Children with Special Health Needs Program (CSHNP), part of the Hawaii Department of Health, is dedicated to ensuring that children and youth aged 0-21 in Maunaloa, HI, who face chronic medical conditions achieve their fullest potential in health, growth, and development. We provide essential services for families of children with long-term health challenges, including specialized medical care coordination, nutritional support, hearing and vision services, and transition planning to adult health care. Our program offers access to neurology, cardiac, and nutrition clinics across the Neighbor Islands, along with limited financial assistance for specialty care. We aim to ease the journey for families by facilitating medical specialist visits, laboratory tests, X-rays, and essential prescription medications. Families can easily apply for our services by calling us, while health care providers are encouraged to submit a Referral for Service form to ensure that every child receives the care they need.
