About Children with Special Health Needs Program (CSHNP)
The Children with Special Health Needs Program (CSHNP) in Naalehu, Hawaii, is dedicated to supporting children and youth up to 21 years of age with chronic medical conditions. Our mission is to ensure that every child reaches their fullest potential in health, growth, and development. We provide vital services such as information and referral, service coordination for specialized medical care, nutrition counseling, and necessary special services for hearing and vision. Additionally, we assist families with transition planning to adult health care and offer essential clinics in neurology, cardiology, and nutrition across the Neighbor Islands. For families facing financial challenges, we also provide limited financial assistance for specialty care to help cover medical office visits, diagnostic tests, medications, and travel expenses for care on other islands. Health care providers can refer patients or submit a Referral for Service form, while families are encouraged to reach out and apply for our comprehensive support.
