About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Paauilo, HI, is dedicated to training and empowering individuals to advocate for a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. Our program provides a hands-on, experiential learning environment where selected Fellows engage in organic food system education while growing and distributing diverse crops on a market-style farm. We prioritize accessibility by waiving tuition fees, encouraging participation from a wide range of backgrounds. Throughout their six-month residency at our Allegheny Farm Campus, Fellows will implement innovative health care educational sessions, maintain community and school gardens, and enhance food literacy within local schools. This fellowship not only supports farmers markets and local distribution channels but also fosters community food coalition efforts, creating a network of passionate advocates. After the fellowship, participants embark on a Community Action Year, applying their skills with regional non-profit organizations to further promote food justice. Applications are accepted until March, with the fellowship typically running from May to October.
