The Children with Special Health Needs Program (CSHNP) in Volcano, HI, is dedicated to ensuring that all children and youth aged 0-21 with chronic medical conditions receive the specialized care they need to thrive. Our mission is to promote optimal health, growth, and development for children living with long-term health challenges, along with providing vital support to their families. CSHNP offers a range of essential services, including information and referral, comprehensive service coordination for medical specialty care, nutrition services, and specialized hearing and vision services. We also assist in transition planning to adult health care and provide access to neurology, cardiac, and nutrition clinics across the Neighbor Islands. Families may benefit from limited financial assistance for specialty care, and we facilitate access to medical specialist visits, laboratory tests, X-rays, EKGs, EEGs, prescription medications, hearing aids, and associated services. Support for travel and lodging expenses is also available for Neighbor Island children in need of medical services on other islands. Health care providers can submit referrals, and families are encouraged to reach out to apply for services.
