About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Waikoloa, HI, empowers dedicated individuals to become advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Through hands-on training and immersive experiences, Fellows learn to promote social, environmental, and economic justice in food production and distribution. This unique program offers comprehensive education in organic food systems, enabling participants to cultivate diversified crops on a market-style farm, implement innovative health education sessions, maintain community gardens, and teach food and ecological literacy in schools. By supporting farmers markets and enhancing access to nutritious foods, Fellows play a vital role in fostering community resilience. The Fellowship consists of a six-month experiential training period followed by a Community Action Year, where graduates collaborate with regional non-profits to apply their skills and create lasting impact. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
