Heart of Iowa Regional Transit Agency (HIRTA) facilitates the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in Adel, IA, dedicated to supporting older adults, individuals with disabilities, low-income residents, and veterans across Central Iowa, including Madison and Marion Counties. Through RSVP, we offer essential services like non-emergency medical transportation, food assistance, and companionship, ensuring our community members can access food pantries, grocery stores, and assistance with meal preparation. Each participant completes an intake assessment to tailor services to their specific needs. We invite community members to engage with us for various forms of companionship, from friendly home visits to support in attending community events. Our services are available at no cost, although donations are welcomed. We are actively seeking volunteers aged 55 and over, who can apply through HIRTA for mission-driven opportunities. The first 10 volunteers who complete their initial assignment will receive a $25 gift card. RSVP is committed to connecting seniors with fulfilling volunteer placements and we are happy to assist in finding roles tailored to individual interests. Translation services are also available for our diverse community.
