The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Ames, IA, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates and educators for a sustainable and equitable food system. Through hands-on training and immersive experiences, our Fellows gain invaluable knowledge in organic agriculture, food distribution, and community engagement. Over a six-month residency at the Allegheny Farm Campus, participants learn to cultivate diverse crops and implement educational programs that promote health and ecological awareness in schools and communities. This Fellowship eliminates tuition barriers to ensure accessibility, empowering graduates to champion food assistance initiatives, support local farmers markets, and enhance food literacy across various platforms. After their immersive training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional nonprofit organizations to apply their skills and foster stronger community food systems. Applications are accepted until March for experiences running from May to October.
