The Heart of Iowa Regional Transit Agency (HIRTA) operates the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in Carlisle, IA, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults, individuals with disabilities, low-income residents, and veterans across Central Iowa Counties including Madison and Marion. HIRTA RSVP offers essential services like non-emergency medical transportation, food assistance, and companionship tailored to the unique needs of each community member. By completing an intake assessment, individuals can access vital food support linked to local food pantries and grocery resources, or receive comforting in-home companionship and event assistance. While donations are appreciated, there is no fee to receive any of our services. We are always seeking compassionate volunteers aged 55 and older to enrich our community, with the first 10 volunteers earning a $25 gift card after their initial assignment. RSVP also ensures that every volunteer finds meaningful opportunities that resonate with their interests. Translation services are available to meet diverse needs.
