About Senior Farmers Market (SFMNP)

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) in Carlisle, IA, is dedicated to enhancing the nutritional health of eligible older adults by providing access to fresh, locally grown produce. Administered by the Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship in partnership with the Iowa Department on Aging, this program offers a booklet of $30 worth of checks that can be used at participating farmers' markets and roadside stands to purchase delicious fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey sourced from Iowa farms. To ensure seniors can benefit from this vital food assistance, SFMNP checks are distributed by the Area Agencies on Aging from June 1 to September 30, on a first-come, first-served basis. Eligible seniors must apply annually and can receive SFMNP checks once each year, promoting healthier eating and supporting local agriculture in our community.
