The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Cherokee, IA, is dedicated to cultivating a just and sustainable food system through the empowerment and training of emerging leaders. This transformative program provides aspiring farmers and advocates with a comprehensive education in organic food systems, emphasizing practical, hands-on experience at AMI’s Allegheny Farm Campus. Fellows engage in diverse initiatives, from growing and distributing crops on market-style farms to implementing educational sessions that promote health and ecological literacy within schools and communities. Additionally, they support local farmers markets and contribute to community food coalition activities, all while striving to enhance access to nutritious food for all. With no tuition fees, the Fellowship prioritizes accessibility and inclusivity, allowing selected individuals to participate fully in this impactful six-month experience, followed by a Community Action Year in collaboration with regional non-profit organizations. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the fellowship experience running from May to October.
