About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Clarinda, IA, is dedicated to training and empowering passionate individuals who aspire to become advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Our program offers a comprehensive, tuition-free experience designed to promote accessibility and cultivate leadership in organic food systems. Fellows engage in hands-on learning at the Allegheny Farm, focusing on diverse agricultural practices and community-based initiatives. Throughout this six-month fellowship, participants collaborate with local partners to grow and distribute fresh crops, implement educational health programs, maintain community gardens, enhance food and ecological literacy in schools, and mentor future cohorts. Following their immersive training, Fellows undertake a Community Action Year, applying their skills with regional non-profit organizations to expand access to healthy food. Applications are due in March, with the fellowship experience running from May to October, all aimed at fostering an equitable food landscape.
