The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Council Bluffs, IA, is dedicated to training and empowering a new generation of advocates for a just and sustainable food system. Through hands-on education at the Allegheny Farm, selected Fellows engage in a transformative six-month residency that covers organic food systems and community-based practices. This free program fosters accessibility and ensures participants can grow and distribute diverse crops, implement health-focused educational initiatives, and enhance food literacy in schools. Additionally, Fellows support farmers' markets and directly connect communities with healthy food options while developing innovative distribution channels. Following their residency, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to apply their skills and make an impact. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
