The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Des Moines, IA, serves as a transformative program dedicated to nurturing passionate individuals into effective leaders and advocates for a just food system. Focusing on social, environmental, and economic equity, this fellowship offers hands-on training and organic food system education, allowing participants to actively engage in community initiatives. Selected Fellows experience immersive, experiential learning at AMI’s Allegheny Farm Campus for six months, during which they cultivate diversified crops, implement educational programs, and support initiatives like farmers markets and community gardens. Following this intensive training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to enhance food access and promote food literacy. Our commitment to accessibility is reflected in our no-tuition policy, ensuring that all aspiring advocates can join this vital mission. Applications are accepted until March of each year, with the fellowship running from May to October.
