The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Eldridge, IA is dedicated to fostering a just and sustainable food system through the empowerment and training of passionate individuals. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this program offers a unique opportunity for selected Fellows to immerse themselves in organic food system education over a six-month residential study at our picturesque Allegheny Farm Campus. Throughout their journey, Fellows actively engage in impactful initiatives such as growing and distributing diverse crops, implementing health education sessions, maintaining community and school gardens, and enhancing food and ecological literacy. Following this transformative experience, Fellows enter a Community Action Year, where they apply their skills in collaboration with local nonprofits, helping to ensure increased access to healthy food and supporting local farmers markets. We prioritize accessibility by not charging tuition, welcoming all who share our commitment to a socially, environmentally, and economically just food system. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the program running from May to October.
