About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Evansdale, IA, is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of leaders who are passionate about creating a just food system. Our program sponsors, trains, and empowers Fellows through experiential learning, providing them with vital organic food system education without tuition costs to ensure accessibility for all. Over the course of six months, participants engage in hands-on experiences at the Allegheny Farm Campus, working on diversified crops, managing school and community gardens, and offering innovative educational sessions. After their intensive training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to advocate for food access and promote ecological literacy. By strengthening local food systems and supporting initiatives like farmers markets and direct-to-consumer programs, we aim to foster a network of advocates who are committed to nurturing healthy communities and sustainable practices.
