About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, based in Forest City, IA, is dedicated to nurturing future leaders in sustainable food systems. Our program provides dynamic training for aspiring educators and advocates who are committed to promoting a food system that is equitable, ecological, and economically viable. Over a six-month immersive experience at Allegheny Farm, participants gain hands-on knowledge in organic agriculture while engaging with a variety of initiatives including community gardens, farmers markets, and educational outreach programs focused on food and ecological literacy. The Fellowship is designed to be accessible, with no tuition fees, allowing our Fellows to focus on transforming their communities through healthy food access and innovative agricultural practices. After their initial training, Fellows embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to put their skills into action. Applications are accepted until March each year, with programs typically running from May to October.
