The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Fort Dodge, IA is dedicated to cultivating the next generation of advocates for a just food system. This transformative program sponsors and trains Fellows, offering them a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in organic food systems education without the burden of tuition fees. Over six months of experiential learning at Allegheny Farm, participants engage in hands-on activities that range from growing diversified crops to implementing innovative health care educational sessions. Additionally, they play a vital role in maintaining school and community gardens, integrating food and ecological literacy into local education, and championing initiatives like farmers markets and direct-to-consumer models. Following their intensive training, Fellows dedicate a Community Action Year, applying their skills in collaboration with regional non-profit organizations to enhance local food access and sustainability. Applications are welcomed annually by March, with the fellowship experience taking place from May through October.
