About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Fort Madison, IA is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a fair, equitable, and sustainable food system. By offering comprehensive organic food system education, the Fellowship empowers participants to engage in impactful projects such as cultivating diverse crops on community farms, facilitating hands-on educational workshops, and enhancing food literacy within local schools. Fellows also play a vital role in supporting farmers markets and improving access to healthy food options across the region. This six-month experiential program allows individuals to immerse themselves in farm-based learning, followed by a Community Action Year where they work alongside regional non-profit organizations to enact meaningful change. Our commitment to making this opportunity accessible means we do not charge tuition, and we encourage aspiring fellows to apply by March each year, with programs running from May to October.
